The conglomerate Schwan-Stabilo has acquired a stake in the Rosenheim start-up Doghammer GmbH. The brand, which specializes in sustainable shoes, is a good addition to the group’s outdoor division, Schwan-Stabilo announced on Thursday.
“We know that outdoor athletes are paying more and more attention to sustainable materials and fair production conditions. With Doghammer’s ecological shoes, we are now investing in another high-growth area,” explained Sebastian Schwanhäußer, CEO of the Schwan Stabilo Group, in a statement.
The participation, which according to the group was agreed shortly before the turn of the year, is “a next logical step in the strategic and sustainable further development of the outdoor division,” according to a statement. This segment already includes the Deuter, Maier Sports, Gonso and Ortovox brands. In the past 2020/21 financial year, the subgroup generated sales of EUR 186.3 million, which means an increase of 16.6 percent compared to the previous year.
Maximilian Hundhammer, who founded Doghammer in 2015 together with Matthias Drexlmaier, welcomed the group’s participation: “We have reached a point where we need a strong partner who not only supports us financially, but also with a good network and support experience,” he said in a statement. “In this way we can take the next step with our ecologically sustainable and fairly produced shoes. We have found this partner in the Schwan-Stabilo family business.”
