Demi Schuurs did not reach the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles at Roland Garros. In Paris she lost together with Matwe Middelkoop to Ena Shibahara and Wesley Koolhof.
It became 6-3 and 6-4 for Shibahara and Koolhof.
Tricky party
Schuurs and Middelkoop knew they were facing a difficult match on the gravel in Paris. The duo Shibahara and Koolhof has been placed second in the French capital. Schuurs and Middelkoop were able to offer good resistance to Shibahara and Koolhof at the start of the first set, but the Japanese and the Dutchman managed to take the first three games in a row, including a break. That one break turned out to be decisive in the first set. Schuurs and Middelkoop then kept their own games, but lost the first set 6-3.

In the second set, which Schuurs and Middelkoop were allowed to start, the score was 3-3. Then Shibahara and Koolhof again managed to break the Dutch duo and take two games off the win. However, Schuurs and Middelkoop fought back and managed to break back and come to 4-4. In their own game, Schuurs and Middelkoop were unable to take the lead. Again there was a break from Shibahara and Koolhof. On their own service, the Japanese and the Dutchman won the second set and the match 6-4.
Paris
Schuurs is ready in Paris due to the elimination. On Friday she lost in women’s doubles together with doubles partner Desirae Krawczyk.
