Schunk and Zahraj became German tennis champions for the first time

Tennis talent Nastasja Schunk (20) has been crowned German champion for the first time in her career. At the end of the title fights in Biberach, the native of Mainz prevailed in the women’s final with 6:3, 6:2 against Stephanie Wagner (Amberg).

“The victory means a lot to me. It was a good end to a difficult year,” said two-time Grand Slam participant Schunk, who was injured for a long time this year.

Patrick Zahraj (24) also celebrated his debut victory in the men’s competition. The 24-year-old won against veteran Daniel Masur (29) 7:6 (7:3), 7:5. On his way to the title, Zahraj had, among other things, thrown out number one seed Marko Topo (Gräfelfing) in the first round.
