NBA professional Dennis Schröder has to be patient before returning to Los Angeles.
“We’re just getting my visa ready,” the captain of the German national basketball team told the “Braunschweiger Zeitung”. Because of the missing document, the newcomer had recently missed the media day at the LA Lakers.
Schröder, who signed with his former club shortly before winning the European Championship bronze medal (“I carry it with me everywhere”), is “of course in contact with all the Lakers players”. He is looking forward to “joining the team soon”. The North American Pro League season begins on October 18.
Schröder has big plans for the Lakers. “When I played in LA back then, we didn’t have any fans because of Corona. I just want to experience playing there in a full hall again,” said Schröder, “with LeBron James, the best player in the world, and with Anthony Davis experience that Lakers feeling again, how people feel, how they do business. That’s the club I want to be at.”
Schröder had already played for Los Angeles in the 2020/21 season.
It is still unclear where the 29-year-old will live with his pregnant wife Ellen and their two children. The own house is still rented.
“We’re looking for a way for people to get out. That’s actually already been clarified,” said Schröder: “It’s fully furnished, it’s a home. When we finished it back then, we only had two or three weeks there. So now we’re even more excited to go over there and enjoy it.”
