Basketball star Dennis Schröder has once again described his numerous team changes in the NBA as part of the business. “In the end it’s just business, you have to live with it. It’s something cool that I’ve played in so many different teams,” said the world and European champion in the first episode of his new podcast “Golden Hoops”.
Schröder is currently playing for the Sacramento Kings, his tenth NBA stop. “This is a billion-dollar business, you can’t take it personally,” said the 32-year-old: “Last year I got to know Draymond Green and Stephen Curry well, now I’m on a first-name basis with them. I can write and FaceTime with them. Something like that is cool.”
In 2024, Schröder only played for the Brooklyn Nets from February to December. “If I had stayed there, I could have become an all-star. But unfortunately Brooklyn didn’t want to win. Golden State called my agent every day and said we want Dennis. When you get traded, it’s always because a team wants you,” said Schröder.
In contrast to the NBA, the German national team is an oasis of well-being. “This is the best time we have of the year. We play with and for each other. It’s different in the NBA. If you put up 20 points and have ten rebounds, you get more than if you get eight rebounds and score eight points. I was never a fan of that,” said Schröder.
