In terms of sport, footballers from TSV Havelse have been relegated from the third league – now they could celebrate staying in the league: 1860 Munich was refused a license and the team from Garbsen hopes to benefit from it.
The Lower Saxony team announced on Wednesday evening via their social media channels that they had “submitted all the necessary documents to the DFB on time and in full.” However, the club has not yet received the result of the examination of the documents, it says in the text, under which the name of the outgoing managing director Florian Riedel is written.
In other words: After the Munich team was denied a license because the “Lions” lacked the necessary money, Havelse is now hoping for the contract. With the statement, TSV responded to rumors that the club might not want to stay in the third division at all.
“The smallest club in German professional football” wants to remain a third division team
As in the past season, the Garbseners plan to play all their home games in Hannover 96’s Eilenriedestadion. Your own stadium is not suitable for the third division.
Despite the sporting relegation, the club is proud of the team’s development, Riedel writes, they never gave up and “fought for every point and the best possible placement” until the last match day.
All of this against the background that TSV Havelse is “the smallest club in German professional football”. “This is an example of how sporting dreams can be realized even with limited financial resources, predominantly voluntary structures and hard work.” And perhaps all of this will now be rewarded with another year in the third division.
