The pressure on trainer Alfred Schreuder seems to have increased by the day now that Ajax has not won for the third match in a row. After a loss against PSV and a draw against Vitesse, there was a draw today against low flyer Emmen (3-3).
And so it was to be expected that after the game Schreuder was asked whether he fears for his job yet. “Certainly not”, was the answer after the game. “I know what I’m getting into and I know how it works in football, but I’m not afraid.”

“We were not there with our heads,” said Schreuder. “It seemed like we thought we were there.” After the first half, Ajax still led 1-3, but according to Schreuder, the decline after the break was great. “In the second half, after that chance from Kudus, we didn’t have a normal attack anymore.”
“The results were just very bad in recent weeks,” the trainer looked back on the past few days. “If you go back to Wednesday (the match against Vitesse): that should just be a big win. Then you are in a different position today and you can close the first half of the season well. Now we close it very badly.”
