Schoorl spring rolls from Cuong and Hoa are back: “Tradition on Sunday”

It’s a party on the Laanweg in Schoorl. The spring roll stand of the Vietnamese couple Cuong and Hoa is back and many residents don’t want to be told twice. Previously, the municipality did not grant a permit, but thanks to support from the village, we managed to obtain a new permit.

“That’s very nice. Everyone is happy, so we are too. Very nice to come back,” says owner Hoa.

The spring roll stall stood on the Oorsprongweg, on the edge of the Schoorlse Duinen, for at least 32 years. But due to new rules, that place had to be raffled again, and the Vietnamese couple ended up losing out.

Not only Hoa and Cuong, but also many regular customers were downright disappointed. The disappointment generated a lot of media attention and support on social media, allowing the couple to start talking to the municipality again.

“It was yes-no, yes-no and a lot of hassle for a long time. But the municipality has now cooperated. So we are very happy.”

Visitors are also very happy that they no longer have to miss the iconic spring roll stand. “The stall has become part of the village,” says one of the visitors.

A spring roll from Loempi – as the couple’s stall is called – has become a true Schoorl tradition in recent years, customers say.

“I’ve been coming to Cuong all my life so I’m very happy with it,” “I always come here with grandpa and grandma on Sundays,” says another young fan. “Everyone told me in advance that they would come. We receive a lot of support from everyone in Bergen and Schoorl, which is very nice to feel,” said Hoa.

A reporter who went to take a quick look at 5 p.m. said that the stand was almost completely sold out. People could still stop by for a fries or a snack, but a spring roll or a patty had not been an option for hours.
