School of mafia, the film: underworld lesson in Palermo

TOHe is cheerful, funny, at times even hilarious School of mafiathe film that proposes tonight Rai 2 on TV premiere at 9.20pm. Very pop the cast with Emilio Solfrizzi, Paolo Calabresi, Paola Minaccioni, Tony Sperandeo and the young Giuseppe Maggio in which a very nice one stands out Nino Frassica.

The film projects the viewer into one paradoxical realityin which dei New York mafia bosses they are grappling with gods rebellious children, that they just don’t want to be mafia. Thus, the Mafia fathers send their children to fetch mafia lessonsas if it were a real school that teaches, however, the most violent criminal illegality. Laughter (but also reflections) are guaranteed.

School of mafia: the plot

We are in modern-day New York. Frankie (Tony Sperandeo) is the boss of the bosses, ultra feared and super respected. Suddenly he dies of a trivial accident (falls from the Brooklyn Bridge, followed by his dog). The other families of the Italian-American mafia are in turmoil, they are alarmed because they were not ready for post-Frankie. They come together to quickly decide on future developments. It is about Donato Cavallo (Emilio Solfrizzi), Vito Masseria (Paolo Calabresi) and Primo Di Maggio (Fabrizio Ferracane), other mafia bosses, who sign a new pact.

However, they soon realize that any alliance will be short-lived because theirs sonsthat is, those who should be the new generation of the mafia, have no intention of continuing the “Criminal career” of the parents and, among other things, they don’t even have the inclination to do it.

Children who do not want to be mafia, sent to “repeat”

The children of the Mafia leaders have grown up nowadays, have very different aspirations and talents from those of their fathers. It is about Tony Masseria (Michele Ragno) that teaches dance and is gender fluid. Of Nick Di Maggio (Giuseppe Maggio) which does the rock singer and is about to enter the America’s most famous talent show. And of Joe Cavallo (Guglielmo Poggi) which actually stands for become a policeman.

What to do to be sure that the children are able to carry on the family “tradition”? The fathers have no doubts: the only solution is to send them to “Mafia school”. And the only teacher who can really train them is in Sicily, he is Mr Tthat is Turi ‘U Appicciaturi (Nino Frassica). So i three bosses kidnap their children and ship them to Palermowhere it awaits them Turi with Except ‘O Swiss (Maurizio Lombardi) and his wife Carmela (Paola Minaccioni), true head of the house.

Giuseppe Maggio. (01 Distribution)

At this point, for the three children ofbegins a exhilarating “training” made of awakenings with cold showerslessons based on “Respect mafia”, gunshots (which the boys shoot nonsense, however), e gestures that are rituals to be performed (for example the mafia kiss that though Tony, gender fluid, mistake for a kiss, true with the tongue). And when they face a practical test, the three children ofthey only combine trouble (they ask for protection money from one, but they burn another’s car). In short, it is a disaster. In the end, the boys, fed up, rebel and the twists are not lacking.

Lots of laughter (but love)

Should we inherit the “job” of mafia? Yes, because being a mafia, in the end, in the mafia mentality, is a “craft” like any other. Indeed, it is “The job, because “getting out” is not possible. And in the Italian mentality (of the Sicilian mafia on which the Italian-American one is based), professions are inherited.

Hence the modern attitude of these three children of, that they rebel against their mafia fateis profoundly revolutionary. School of mafiawith a do light-hearted and ironic, therefore, stands as one of the various films that fights the mafia mentality. He does it in his own way, that is to the sound of laughter, which in this case sounds bitter.
