There is no discussion about the need for a new building for OBS De Hekakker in Norg. But the day before the Noordenveld municipal council makes a decision about the new location, there is still discussion in the village.
While the school and the municipality opt for reconstruction on the same site, the Norg Interest Association wants a move to the multifunctional center De Brinkhof to be reconsidered.
The primary school will last until the summer of 2024, but after that the 250 students of De Hekakker will really have to be accommodated in an emergency building, confirms school director Han Kemker. The roof of his school is leaking and the central heating boiler is in dire need of replacement, but it is not the case that a new emergency building has to be built at once. “That can wait until after this school year, but not much longer,” he says.
He then does not want to be in an emergency location for more than a year ‘for the sake of the quality of education’ and hopes that the Noordenveld council will give the green light this week for reconstruction on Schoolstraat in Norg.
