The population was asked to avoid the area.

A police spokesman in Brandenburg commented on the BZ: “We currently have a threat situation at the school. There was an alarm at 6:45 a.m. Fortunately, there were no students in the building at the time. Staff who were already in the building were still able to leave the school. As far as we know, the building is currently empty. Now it is checked whether there is actually a risk. The building is currently being searched. The students who came to school in the morning were redirected to the neighboring school sports field for their safety.”

The police spokesman initially did not want to say whether an amok alarm had been triggered – or how specifically the threat to students and teachers was expressed.

According to the spokesman, around 900 students attend the school.
