BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – The Bundestag will discuss the budget of the Chancellery in a three-hour general debate on Wednesday (from 09:00 a.m.). It is considered the highlight of the budget deliberations in Parliament, which began on Tuesday. One focus of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s (SPD) speech is likely to be the Ukraine war and its consequences. On Thursday and Friday, the heads of state and government of NATO, the G7 and the European Union will meet in Brussels for three consecutive summits. In addition to Scholz, opposition leader Friedrich Merz (CDU) should also speak.
After the general debate, the Bundestag also discusses the budgets of the Federal Foreign Office, the Defense Ministries and the Development Ministries. Because of the federal elections in autumn, the budget for 2022 will come to parliament several months later than usual./mfi/DP/ngu
