German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the possibility of overcoming the country’s dependence on Russian oil, but not on gas, within a year. About this Scholz declared at a press conference.

“The hard work to diversify energy imports will continue. It is also a long term sign for [Владимира] Putin. It is possible that within a year we will be able to overcome dependence on oil imports, but it will take more time to overcome dependence on gas,” the chancellor said.

According to him, this will take more time – “not a couple of days, but more time.” Among the reasons for this is the lack of infrastructure in Germany for the supply of other, alternative, energy sources. “We are working on it,” Scholz said.
