Scholz meets Biden, Macron, Johnson and Draghi for extra talk

ELMAU (dpa-AFX) – Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) met again with US President Joe Biden on Tuesday at the start of the final day of the G7 summit in Elmau, Bavaria. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi also took part in a round of talks before the last working session on Tuesday.

According to the White House, Biden wanted to travel to Madrid immediately after the NATO summit. The NATO summit will take place in the Spanish capital on Wednesday and Thursday. Spain’s King Felipe is inviting the alliance’s heads of state and government to a gala dinner on Tuesday evening. Scholz and other participants in the G7 summit are also expected in Madrid.

In addition to Germany, the Group of Seven (G7) includes the USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Italy and Japan. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Council President Charles Michel also attended the summit. Scholz had also invited five guest countries.
