Germany sent Ukraine 5 thousand helmets at the request of Kiev, declared German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an interview with The Washington Post.
“Firstly, Ukraine asked to send helmets, and we responded to this. Secondly, there are strict export criteria that we adhere to when exporting weapons to crisis regions, ”he explained.
According to him, the government supports the continuity of restrictions on arms exports, which were under the former chancellor.

At the end of January, German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht announced that the country had agreed to supply 5,000 military helmets and a complete field hospital to Ukraine. This came amid reports of Russian plans to invade Ukraine, which the Kremlin has repeatedly denied.
