Scholz attends training for Ukrainian soldiers on the Gepard tank

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Chancellor Olaf Scholz visits the training program for Ukrainian soldiers on the Gepard anti-aircraft gun tank on Thursday. The SPD politician will speak to the Ukrainian soldiers and industrial trainers from the manufacturing company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann at the Putlos military training area in Schleswig-Holstein on the Baltic Sea. According to the federal government, the training is part of the German-financed delivery of 30 Gepard tanks to Ukraine.

On July 25, Ukraine announced that it had received the first three Gepard tanks and several tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition from Germany. They are part of the heavy weapons that the federal government had not wanted to supply for a long time. This line was corrected under the impression of the Russian attacks.
