BERLIN/WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) – According to their governments, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and US President Joe Biden spoke by telephone to discuss ongoing support for Ukraine and the situation in the East. A federal government spokesman said on Tuesday that it was agreed that it was necessary to continue to support the country attacked by Russia financially, militarily and humanitarianally.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion with Western help for almost two years. However, the release of new military aid for the USA, its most important supporter, is stuck in a domestic political dispute, which is causing Kiev great concern. Biden has reportedly invited a small group of leading members of Congress to the White House on Wednesday./trö/DP/he
