- CIRC Pants LOOOP revolutionizes the textile cycle
- CEO Stefan Merkt: “Award recognizes our holistic
approach and rewards the creativity of our employees. Schwabmünchen, May 25, 2022. Schöffel has been awarded the ISPO Award 2022 for its revolutionary outdoor pants Circ Pants Looop. The trousers set new standards for the circular economy in textile production: the sustainable garment is made entirely from a single material and is completely recyclable. Since the outer fabric is made of recycled polyester from the fiber recycling specialist RENU and the other components are also made of polyester, the CIRC Pants LOOOP can be collected by Schöffel at the end of the longest possible wearing period and delivered to the partner RITTEC Umwelttechnik. As part of a pilot project, the base material (monomers) for polyester is being recovered there with an efficiency of almost 100 percent. Polyester for new products can then be made from the trousers that have been worn out and from the leftovers from the cuttings that have already been produced during production. This means that with every CIRC Pants LOOOP, 150 grams of crude oil are saved and all the water used for production is recovered during the process. Detailed information will be available to customers on the Schöffel website from the start of sales in spring 2023.
As usual, the trousers impress with their high quality, comfort and functionality: Thanks to preformed knees and four-way stretch, they offer maximum freedom of movement. Breathable and water-repellent, it accompanies every active excursion into nature and its sporty design with smartly placed pockets also scores points.
“The award recognizes a holistic approach and rewards the commitment and creativity of our employees,” explains Stefan Merkt, CEO of Schöffel SPORT.
