Schleusener hat-trick in the DFB Cup: Karlsruher thrashing at fifth division Neustrelitz

As of: 07/29/2022 8:08 p.m

A hat-trick by Fabian Schleusener in the first half was the key for Karlsurher SC to the 2nd round of the DFB-Pokal at Oberliga Neustrelitz.

A bad start in the 2nd Bundesliga, but on course in the DFB Cup: With a clear 8-0 (3-0) at Oberliga club TSG Neustrelitz, Karlsruher SC made it into the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday (07/29/2022). Round done perfectly.

Striker Fabian Schleusener put KSC on course early with a hat-trick in the first half (12th minute, 14th, 41st). Jerome Gondorf (67th), Malik Batmaz (72nd), Daniel Gordon (74th) and Simone Rapp (82nd, 87th) with a brace followed up in the second round to make it 8-0.

Neustrelitz defensive helps

The Badeners, who started the second division season with two defeats and conceded eight goals, played powerfully from the start. The hosts helped with the first goal when Justus Guth shot Schleusener during a rescue operation and the ball went past the helpless Nicolas Delpino in the TSG goal to make it 0-1.

Even at 0: 2 almost two minutes later, the fifth division was not quite up to par: Marcel Franke sent Schleusener on his way with a long ball over the defensive line. He tipped the ball past the rushing goalkeeper and shot into the empty goal.

Third KSC prank just before the break

Neustrelitz recovered a bit after that, but only had half-hearted shots from the second row until the break. But Schleusener struck again. For his third goal he only had to put his foot in a cross pass from Kelvin Arase.

In round two, the KSC controlled the game. Neustrelitz courageously looked for his opportunities. Marcus Niemitz had the best shot, narrowly missing the goal with a slanted shot from the left. TSG kept playing forward and so the guests had plenty of space to show off their qualities.

Within a few minutes, Gondorf, Bartmaz and Gordon increased the lead to 6-0 before new signing Rapp made it 8-0 with a double in the closing stages.

KSC meets relegated Fürth

In everyday league life, Karlsruhe is challenged in Fürth on Friday (05.08.2022). There the team of coach Christian Eichner wants to get their first success in the league. For Neustrelitz, the away season at MSV Pampow begins next Sunday (07.08.2022).
