Schiphol will stick to the maximum number of travelers until November | Inland

Transavia states that it is “doing everything it can” to allow as many people as possible to travel. What the exact impact will be is as yet unknown, more clarity will follow in a week and a half. TUI also states that it is currently unknown what the consequences will be for travelers. For example, the slots at Schiphol for that period are not yet known. Still, the spokesperson is confident that autumn holidays can continue. “We can do it in the summer, so it should also work in the fall.”

Schiphol states that the slot coordinator will make agreements with airlines about which measures are necessary. This also happened with the previous restrictions. For the first time, the airport set a maximum for the number of travelers departing from the airport for July and August. Staffing problems at security led to long lines and even a few disturbances during the May holidays. To guarantee security, the airport’s capacity was adapted to the number of security guards available.

The number of travelers in both months is lower than the maximum in August, despite the fact that more security officers are available. Schiphol points to the fact that travelers usually wear more clothes in those months. As a result, the security check takes a little longer than in the summer months.
