Schiphol expects almost 2.5 million travelers at the airport this spring break. The spring break has been split into two weeks: the south of the country was free between February 18 and today, for the center and the north, the holiday week started yesterday. Schiphol does not expect extreme crowds, partly because of the limitation of the number of departing travelers that has been going on for more than six months.
The airport also does not expect peak days during the spring break, such as during the upcoming May holiday. To prevent overflowing terminals again, several thousand fewer travelers can depart from Schiphol every day during the May holidays. These restrictions have been in place since the summer, mainly due to staff shortages in security and handling.
In the week that North Holland celebrates spring break, Schiphol processes almost 1.5 million passengers. The holiday lasts until Sunday 5 March.
London: almost 50 flights a day
The most popular spring break destinations from Schiphol are London, Istanbul and Barcelona. There are between 40 and 50 flights per day to five airports in and around London. There are 8 or 9 daily flights to Istanbul and 11 daily flights to Barcelona.
The other seven of the ten most popular destinations from Schiphol this spring break are Dublin, Madrid, Milan, Dubai, Copenhagen, Lisbon and Manchester.
