Schalke’s Pálsson before MLS change – Knäbel: “We know that we can still do something”

Already a routine in the USA

At FC Schalke 04, Victor Pálsson (31) is about to say goodbye. And also on the side of the additions, according to sports director Peter Knäbel, something could happen soon.

Midfield veteran Pálsson, top performer and vice-captain in the promotion season, is about to move to the USA. He is already at MLS club DC United in Washington for negotiations and investigations. Pálsson’s contract with the newly promoted Bundesliga team runs for another year. Knäbel confirmed this on Sunday at the Bundesliga club’s official season opener. “If things work out with Victor Pálsson and Washington, then the squad will slowly get the contours it needs,” said Knäbel.

Further additions are also not excluded. The manager confirmed: “We know that we still have to do something. But we also know that we can still do something.” Financially, the heavily indebted club is also making progress, according to CFO Christina Rühl-Hamers. The rise did not solve all the problems, but: “We are on the right track,” said Rühl-Hamers.
