Brother of Bayern professional Leroy
Sidi Sané, national player Leroy’s brother who is seven years his junior, is currently training with the pros from second-division leaders FC Schalke 04. “We wanted to give Sidi the opportunity to get a taste of what we do,” said coach Mike Büskens about the youngster, who played in the will be 19 next week: “We all know that his path has not been easy in recent years because he has been paved by a number of injuries. But basically he has an exciting profile.”
The right winger, who plays in the Schalke U19s, should be built up slowly. “But if they have the necessary talent, they can’t be stopped anyway,” said Büskens, recounting an anecdote: “It was brilliant when Rodri (Rodrigo Zalazar; d. Red) said to me: ‘Buyo, he looks like Leroy Sané!’ Then I said: ‘That’s his brother too.’ He couldn’t believe it at first.”
These brothers have played for the same Bundesliga club since 2000

Sports director Rouven Schröder said Sané was “a young guy who has the opportunity to show himself”. It is possible that his participation in professional training should provide information as to whether and how the talent’s contract will be extended. Sané’s working paper is currently only dated to June 30th. “We will monitor the situation closely. You don’t like to let a good player go, but we don’t let ourselves be put under pressure.” Sané is not yet an option for the squad on Sunday at Darmstadt 98.
