Wants to be fit again for the second half of the season
FC Schalke 04 will have to do without attacker Sebastian Polter in the last game of the year against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Friday (6:30 p.m.). The 32-year-old underwent surgery for a hernia on Monday. Schalke announced this on Tuesday.
Polter has been suffering from groin problems for some time and would like to use the time before the end of the football season to have the procedure so that he can start the second half of the season without any pain. The striker has been playing less and less recently under new coach Karel Geraerts and is considered a candidate for sale. In the current season, there are six goal involvements in 13 games.
