It’s all well and good that you’re finally signing a player again and I think Churlinov is great too, but we have a major problem in the squad – and it’s called defense. The game against HSV today showed once again that they are forced to react – and not just since yesterday!
Plus this purchase option; completely pointless. Where do you want to get this money from? Or is someone in management pulling the bills out of their asses?

Well, in terms of the squad, I don’t think FC Schalke’s defense is that bad.
Ouwejan, Kaminski, Baumgartl, Kalas, Murkin, Brunner are definitely good players for the 2nd league.
The only problem is that there has been absolute chaos on the defensive so far. Apparently they haven’t been able to stabilize that yet. Even the preparatory games during the winter break are not enough.
If I were to summarize the current situation, it would be as follows:
At the beginning of the season they simply made a brutal mistake with the extremely offensive orientation and high defensive line. Then they fired Reis and initially played a three-man chain with Geraerts, which again didn’t fit the squad at all. Now we’re playing with a chain of four again and things got a lot better, at least at the end of the first half of the season. It is a logical consequence that there is still no coordination due to all these personnel and systemic changes.
With Churlinov they have definitely found a reinforcement on the offensive, even if the purchase option should never be used. But it would be risky to assume that the defense will stabilize itself.
