Last use in August 2021
FC Schalke 04 and goalkeeper Michael Langer continue their cooperation. As the Bundesliga relegated announced on Tuesday, the contract with the 38-year-old was extended until June 30, 2024. Langer, who switched to Revierklub from IFK Norrköping from Sweden as number three in 2017, is now in his seventh season. Only Ralf Fährmann, who has since been loaned out, has been under contract with Schalke for a longer period of time (to the statistics).
“The past season showed again how much Michael supports the team and how important he is for the team. He also has a lot of experience and knows what to expect in the fight for promotion to the Bundesliga. He should continue to be a point of contact and a role model for our young players in particular,” said sporting director André Hechelmann. Langer was only five times in the squad this year and was not used. Most recently, he was on the 2nd day of the second division season in August 2021 in a 3-0 (2-0) win at Holstein Kiel in the Schalke goal.
