Transfer at market value level?
Marvin Pieringer will most likely leave FC Schalke 04 shortly. On Saturday, the 23-year-old missed the 3-0 (1-0) friendly against SC Spelle-Venhaus, who have been promoted to the Regionalliga, because he is about to reach an agreement with another club. This was confirmed by sports director André Hechelmann.
“Marvin Pieringer wasn’t there. He is in talks with an interested club,” Hechelmann said of the “WAZquoted. “We’ll see how the talks go. And maybe there will be the latest news at the beginning of the week.”
Farfán to Sané: The 10 most expensive Schalke departures
Schalke signed Pieringer from SC Freiburg last summer for €500,000 and loaned him out to SC Paderborn, where the striker was one of the top ten scorers in the second Bundesliga, despite a long leg injury, with ten goals and eight assists in 23 games. As a possible transfer, the “WAZ” is a sum at market value level in the room, i.e. around 2 million euros.
Pieringer departure: Schalke does not want to sign a replacement
Schalke would not sign a replacement for Pieringer, as Simon Terodde (35), Sebastian Polter (32) and talent Keke Topp (19) already have three similar types of players in the squad. “We currently feel good about how we are positioned,” explained Hechelmann. “We are still exploring the market. But as of now, we wouldn’t do anything in that direction for now.”
