Schalke: Büskens will not become a permanent solution as a coach – “Clear Agreement”

As much as I’d like to see Buyo as head coach on a permanent basis, he doesn’t want it. He wants to work in the background and take young players under his wing to ease the transition to the pros. That’s what he wants and that’s perfectly fine. I think he can function very well as a head coach and his status could allow him to survive ‘bad’ parts of the season. On the other hand, it’s not out of the question that he will have to leave. He loves working in the club too much for that.
I’m surprised by this news though. What was reaffirmed today at the PK (he goes back to the “2nd row”) was already clearly communicated when he was made head coach. Nothing else has been indicated so far. So that was actually clear.

It’s true that the football we play isn’t what I tell my grandchildren about. That hasn’t changed drastically with Buyo either. But you are also in Liga2. There are other advantages that count. And Schalke has shown that clearly since the dismissal of Grammozis – especially with regard to the very good efficiency. That was shown very clearly in the game against Darmstadt in particular. In addition, the results agree overall. Rather, the team also shows a clearly different face. The formation change is good for the team and I really like Itakura on the 6.

I very much hope that the climb will be successful. Just because you can hold Itakura and Ouwejan that way. Both can very well imagine staying on ascent. If you don’t get promoted, both of them tend not to want to. And I also think it’s completely legitimate that both communicate this openly. I prefer it 1000 times over lip service and then they’re gone.
When it comes to promotion, it should be clear to everyone that it’s all about staying up. Ambitions, which unfortunately often run high with us, should be scaled back.
