First division competition outdone
According to media reports, Schalke 04 is about to make the second transfer for the coming season. After Ron Schallenberg, Union Berlin’s Paul Seguin will soon join the Royal Blues and help with the mission of direct promotion. According to reports, the 28-year-old central midfielder has signed a three-year contract and costs around 750,000 euros. A transfer fee had already become due for Paderborn’s Schallenberg, and there is a sum of at least 2 million euros in the room.

Seguin, in which Schalke apparently outperformed competition from VfL Bochum, Hannover 96 and FC Augsburg, only moved from Greuther Fürth to Berlin on a free transfer last summer and made 23 appearances in total, but was only in the starting XI seven times. There have recently been reports that the native of Magdeburg has submitted his change request for the prospect of more playing time. With Rani Khedira, Janik Haberer, Aïssa Laïdouni, Morten Thorsby and András Schäfer, he had a lot of competition for his position in the “Iron”.
Together with Schallenberg, Seguin, for whom S04 will be the fifth club in his professional career after VfL Wolfsburg, Dynamo Dresden, Fürth and Union, will form a new duo at headquarters. While the former will mainly take on defensive tasks, Seguin, whose market value is around 3 million euros, will act as eighth.
