FC Schalke 04 struggled to a 2-0 (0-0) win at Hansa Rostock in the 2nd Bundesliga. Curious: Rostock’s Brumado saw the red card 30 minutes after a foul.
Blendi Idrizi scored Schalke’s lead from close range in the 72nd minute on Sunday (December 10th, 2023), and shortly before the end of regular time Kenan Karaman increased the lead (86th). With the success, Schalke jumped to 13th place in the table, Rostock is now 16th.
Injured at riots
In the 40th minute, the game was interrupted for about half an hour by referee Nicolas Winter after Schalke fans broke through the boundary to the home supporters’ area. Pyrotechnics were ignited. According to police, Rostock fans tried to get into the block area that was blocked off as a buffer.
A police officer and two security service employees were slightly injured, the Rostock police station said on Sunday evening. A paramedic was physically attacked in the Schalke fan block. There had previously been no flow of play on the pitch and no significant chances to score; the game was characterized by duels. Both teams struggled to get back into a rhythm after the long break.
