Schalke 04 | PK LIVE: What is your promotion plan, Mr. Büskens?

Yesterday, Wednesday, Mike Büskens was able to lead training at FC Schalke 04 as head coach for the first time after his corona infection. The club idol took over the job of interim coach at the Knappen after Dimitrios Grammozis was on leave, but was initially only able to guide the Bundesliga relegated from isolation. Now the 53-year-old is fit again – and this Thursday for the first time part of a matchday PK.

sport.de accompanies today’s press round with Mike Büskens and sports director Rouven Schröder before Schalke’s home game against Hannover 96 from 14:00 Clock in the ticker!

+++ Büskens about the differences +++

“I already said last week: Let’s stop making any comparisons. I have my way. But let’s not compare, that’s not the point.”

+++ Büskens about Vindheim +++

“We’re hoping that he can play parts during the international break and that we can then get him back into play for the last seven players of the season. But we won’t take any chances. He had a muscle injury with a tendon involved. That’s why we had to always expect him to be out for so long.”

+++ Büskens about the staff +++

“You saw it live on the spot. Malick Thiaw had to stop training. But it’s something that doesn’t worry us that much. We hope he can get back to training tomorrow. He only had treatment today, but We assume that he will be back tomorrow. Blendi Idrizi, he was a little nauseous. You also saw that Salif trained with us, as did Thomas. We’ll see how they react. But we’re confident about that. Maybe are they options for the squad.”

+++ Here we go +++

In these minutes, the PK from Gelsenkirchen begins. All information about FC Schalke 04 is available first-hand!

+++ We’re expecting Mike Büskens and Rouven Schröder on the podium soon +++

It’s about to start!

+++ Büsken’s first boss on the Schalke sideline +++

Mike Büskens was represented by his assistant Matthias Kreutzer in the 3-0 win in Ingolstadt last Sunday. On Saturday, the ex-professional will be in charge of the Schalke bench for the first time this season. The “Eurofighter” has been interim coach for the Royal Blues twice in the past.

He now wants to continue the catch-up project against Hannover. Schalke is currently fifth in the table and four points behind a promotion place. And since there are still five (!) direct duels with other promotion candidates on the program, the miners have everything in their own hands.

+++ FC Schalke reduces liabilities +++

During the week there was exceptionally positive news from the finance department at Schalke: the second division club was able to reduce its liabilities by 33.5 million euros in 2021. These shrank from around 217 million to 183.5 million euros.

The consolidated result was a loss of 17.8 million euros, which was well below the previous year’s minus of 52.6 million euros. Meanwhile, sales fell from 174.7 million to 167.1 million euros.

CFO Christina Rühl-Hamers was satisfied: “In the second half of 2020/2021 we were not able to sell a single ticket due to the COVID-19 restrictions, after relegation we had to carry out a historically unique squad restructuring despite sharply falling income and at the same time the economic ability to act of the association.”
