Rabbi Matondo did not record bad results in the past championship season in Belgium. At Cercle Brugge, where the 21-year-old striker was loaned out, the Welshman will not continue in the long term. Club and player sought an agreement, but did not find it.
The West Flanders club announced the decision on Thursday evening. The option to buy Matondo was not exercised, although Cercle had been “ready to do so for a long time”, but no agreement was reached with the player. Matondo contributed ten goals and two assists in 27 competitive games in tenth place. His contract with Bundesliga promoted Schalke is valid for another year until 2023.
Cercle Brugge has had a request for Rabbi Matondo (21) in the event that FC Schalke 04 have not been active. Cercle was long tijd om dat welt te doen, maar een accord met de speler voor een definite transition will not be given.
