42-year-old Schagense E. de B., who kidnapped her two daughters, aged seven and eight at the time, at the end of June, wants her to be released until the judge deals with the substance of her case. The woman was immediately arrested by the police when she was found with her children after a week. Since then she has been held in a women’s prison.
The woman, with long hair and glasses, walks into the courtroom alongside two police officers. She waves to people in the public gallery and addresses the judge directly. However, she does not answer her questions too much and starts the hearing.
De B. is suspected of deliberately keeping her children away from their father, who has legal custody of the girls. She has been living separately from their father for some time. For a week in June this year, no one knew where the children were.
The children’s father worked at NH an emotional appeal to look out for his ex-wife and two children. “My ex-wife’s condition is worrying. She is very confused and unpredictable,” he said at the time. A flyer about the three missing people was widely distributed via social media.
Ankle band
The Public Prosecution Service is in favor of lifting her suspension, provided the woman adheres to a number of conditions. These mean, among other things, that she must wear an ankle bracelet and is not allowed to leave the country. She also has an area ban for Schagen, among others. “And these conditions are not negotiable,” the judge warns the woman.
Her ex-husband has mixed feelings about the suspension request, he informed NH, but does not want to comment too much on the case until the substantive hearing.
The judge will make a decision on the request today. Tomorrow the woman will find out whether she will be released. It is not yet known when the substantive case will be heard.
