Pauline Schäfer-Betz lived up to her role as favorite at the finals in apparatus gymnastics on the balance beam. Kim Bui prevailed on the ground. Lukas Dauser disappointed.
The 25-year-old Schäfer-Betz from Chemnitz secured the title in her special discipline with 13,866 points in Berlin. Silver went to Sarah Voss (12,733), Emma Maleswki (12,666) took the bronze medal. Kim Bui (11,666) missed the podium in fourth. While the entire competition in the Max-Schmeling-Halle had to come off the beam once, Schäfer-Betz was only deducted for exceeding the time limit.
I’m very relieved, the qualification wasn’t optimal. I still have upside potential. I’m not quite fit as far as my shoulder is concerned and I’m trying to gradually get back to it. The big events are still to come and I’m confident about that,” said the winner, referring to the European Championships at home and the World Cup on ZDF.
Can’t beat Bui on the ground
A little later, Kim Bui was able to celebrate the German championship title on the ground. With 13,400 points, the 33-year-old won well ahead of Sarah Voss (12,566) and Salina Bousmayo (12,533). Schäfer-Betz was only sixth on floor (10,933).
Klessing WINS at the jump
Nick Klessing is German vault champion. The man from Halle an der Saale won the title with 14,350 points ahead of Leonard Prügel (13.949) and Dario Sissakis (13.916). “I’m completely satisfied. That was a board,” said Klessing.
Bullion title goes to Herder
On bars, the championship title goes to Phillipp Herder, who scored 14,266 points. Silver went to Glenn Trebing (14,200), bronze to Andreas Toba (13,733). Lukas Dauser, who won the silver medal on parallel bars at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, only finished fourth – after a fall on the dismount.
Hörr wins on the horizontal bar
New German champion on horizontal bar is Carlo Hörr. With 13,833 points, he relegated Andreas Toba (13,700) and Leonard Prügel (13,333) to second place. Dauser was again only the thankless fourth place. .
