Bundesliga leaders SC Magdeburg meet HC Erlangen in the semifinals of the German Handball Cup. That was the result of the draw in Hamburg.
In the second semi-final, record winner THW Kiel will play against the winner of the game of defending champion TBV Lemgo Lippe against MT Melsungen.
The new edition of the last final to date had to be canceled at the weekend due to corona. The final tournament will take place on 23./24. April for the last time in Hamburg. From 2023 onwards the game will be played in Cologne.
“We are happy to be able to go to Hamburg,” said SCM Managing Director Marc-Henrik Schmedt: “The whole of Magdeburg is happy.” The Handball Bundesliga assumes that the final tournament can take place at full capacity in front of around 12,000 spectators. “We have good chances,” said HBL Managing Director Frank Bohmann. The unusual game between Lemgo and Melsungen should be made up for in early March.
