That’s why Weisshaupt is underestimated
Noah Weißhaupt is simply still too unknown, even for the common Bundesliga fan with a little more knowledge. The 20-year-old made his Bundesliga debut on Matchday 4 of this season, but then increasingly disappeared onto the bench or even completely from the squad, while Kevin Schade, who was almost the same age, took the laurels for the next Freiburg youngster. Deserved mind you.
But Weißhaupt and Schade were previously the congenial wingers in the Freiburg reserve and harmonized splendidly even in their youth. But while Schade is sure to appear in the “whiz kid” category at every season’s review, Weißhaupt initially found it a little more difficult. At Comunio, especially after the five minus points in the debacle against Dortmund, many who were quite hopeful that the next youngster would mature here should have turned away from him. Observers of SC Freiburg and the German U-national teams should have him on the list anyway.
That’s what makes Weisshaupt so strong
Weißhaupt, who can be used in attacking midfield or as a winger in all positions, is notorious for his scorers. He already delivered 16 (five goals, eleven assists) as an 18-year-old in his first professional season in the regional league for SC Freiburg II. In his second season, the current one, he has already contributed six direct goals in 18 appearances. But this time one to three leagues higher.
In the 3rd division he has provided three goals and one assist for the reserves in eleven games. And in his seven Bundesliga appearances, we are talking about a total of 59 minutes, Weißhaupt actually has two assists (although we are talking about fantasy assists here, i.e. not a flawless template that is not officially counted by the DFL, because an opponent touched the ball slightly. But you still get points at Comunio).
Weißhaupt has already scored two points or more three times and even with the negative result against Dortmund he is extremely efficient with five points from 59 minutes played.
Weißhaupt has this potential
The prospects are terrific. Weißhaupt, by the way the son of the Freiburg legend Marco Weißhaupt, who once played under Volker Finke, is one of the greatest talents from his own youth. He currently plays for the German U20s and recently got more playing time in the Bundesliga. He has been used three times in the last four games. Christian Streich recently praised him with the following words: “He’s improved in terms of scoring, he’s hungry, he’s better, he makes better decisions.”
In addition, there is no other club where the conditions for talented youth players are better than in Freiburg. For a financial investment that doesn’t hurt the notoriously sluggish Comunio soul, you can get a man here who will be able to assert himself permanently in the Bundesliga, with a lot of room for improvement. And who, thanks to his many scorers, will bring a whopping haul of points to all those who bet on him.
