Tunisian Man United professional
The name Hannibal was missing from the announcement of the Tunisian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in January on Thursday. The 20-year-old Manchester United midfielder, the World Cup participant’s second most valuable player after Frankfurt’s Ellyes Skhiri, is normally one of the team’s pillars. In January, however, he would like to concentrate on his club career – and could end up in the Bundesliga.
“Hannibal told me that he didn’t feel ready for the CAN because he was in a difficult situation at the club,” said coach Jalel Kadri about his protégé’s non-nomination. Hannibal has only appeared on the field nine times for the “Red Devils” this season. But the cancellation has less to do with concerns about poor form and more to do with an impending change.

Loud Fabrizio Romano The right-footer wants to bring about a change in the air and be loaned out. Not missing the start of the second half of the season at his new club is apparently a higher priority for Hannibal than the continental tournament. Romano names three clubs as possible buyers: in addition to FC Sevilla and Olympique Lyon, SC Freiburg is also one of them.

The attacking midfielder moved to the “Red Devils” U18 in 2019 at the age of 16 for a fee of 10 million euros after a season in the U17 of AS Monaco. He made his debut for the English record champions in 2021 and spent the 2022/23 season on loan for second division club Birmingham.
Hannibal would be an unusual transfer for the Breisgauers. Not only is the eighth-placed team in the Bundesliga usually rarely active in the winter transfer phase, with only one player signed in January in the last four years, but the celebrity status is also unusual for Freiburg. With Matthias Ginter, who had a market value of 18 million euros when he moved on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, only one new signing in the club’s history was more valuable than Hannibal, who is currently valued at 12 million euros.
