After the extensions of the board members Jochen Saier and Oliver Leki, sports director Klemens Hartenbach also signed a new contract with SC Freiburg. The Breisgauer announced this on Tuesday without naming the term of the working paper. Born in Freiburg, Hartenbach has been with the club since 2001 and has been in his current position since the 2013/14 season.

“This contract extension is not a matter of course. We constantly question our work and the orientation of the association. The substantive conviction is there with us and with Klemens, ”saier is quoted as saying. “Klemens and his scouting team are an elementary component of our successful development over the past few years. We are therefore pleased to be able to continue our extremely trusting and responsible joint work.”

Hartenbach himself emphasized: “Working at SC is still very exciting and challenging for me – regardless of whether it’s about staying up in the league or international places. Helping to shape the sporting foundation permanently and sustainably really drives me every day. I would like to thank you for the trust and I look forward to continuing to be part of this process together with my team.” Since Hartenbach was promoted to sporting director, Freiburg’s squad value has more than tripled and has risen from 50 million to currently 162 million euros.
