SC DHfK Leipzig protests against defeat

SC DHfK Leipzig has lodged a protest against the scoring of the game at ThSV Eisenach. This was confirmed by Karsten Günther, manager of the Bundesliga club.

“A handball game lasts 60 minutes. Net playing time. The game on Friday only lasted 59:54 minutes. Six seconds were missing,” said Günther. The sports court of the Handball Bundesliga must now decide on this. If Leipzig gets it right, a replay is possible.

Leipzig’s equalizer doesn’t count

Eisenach defeated SC DHfK 25:24. When 58:49 minutes had elapsed, Leipzig took a time-out, but when the game continued the clock was apparently at 58:55 minutes. Leipzig managed to equalize with their last attack, but this came very shortly after the final siren and therefore did not count.

“Anyone who followed the outcome of the game saw that with one or two seconds more on the clock, we would have had a realistic chance of going out with a draw,” said Günther. The manager also informed the Thuringians of this step and emphasized that it was not a personal matter.
