SC Braga instead of FC Porto: Joao Moutinho back in Portugal after 11 years

146 international matches & European Championship victory 2016

João Moutinho returns to his native Portugal 11 years after his €25m move from FC Porto to AS Monaco. However, not to the “Dragões”, with whom he was in advanced talks, but to SC Braga. The 36-year-old midfielder has signed until the end of the season for the Champions League playoff participants – there was a 2-1 win against Panathinaikos in the first leg.

Braga will be Moutinho’s third stop in Portugal after Porto (2010-2013) and youth club Sporting (2004-2010). The 146-time national player and European champion from 2016 was last five years with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but his contract ended this summer. A fee will therefore not cost Moutinho.
