SBS 6 will continue after the summer with viewing figures flop HLF8: ‘Nice show!’

SBS 6 will continue with the ratings flop HLF8 after the summer. Although the program scores very poorly, the channel finds it important to continue programming live television in the evening.

Although HLF8 looks a lot more pleasant now that Johnny de Mol has stepped down as presenter, the talk show led by Hélène Hendriks and Leonie ter Braak also fails to score. The program is often very boring and the guest list downright disappointing. It is also quite clannish: this week Guus Meeuwis sang a song for his good friend Johnny.

HLF8 continues

Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden has the scoop. “Today I heard really strong noises that HLF8 would stop permanently, but that’s not true. So it goes on, has just been announced. I get that it will appear on the tube from August 29 with the second season,” he says at Telegraph TV

Talpa bobo Marco Louwerens says: “HLF8 is a show with a nice, good atmosphere, with fun and diverse guests. This translates positively, in both content and market shares. Also in the new season, HLF8 will remain an important part of our programming.”

3.5 hours of live TV

Traditional television sees live broadcasts as the holy grail in the competition with video platforms such as Netflix. “Every day, HLF8, together with Today Inside, Shownieuws and Hart van Nederland, provides three and a half hours of live TV on SBS 6,” says Marco.

He continues: “With this we are on top of the feeling of the day and we offer a distinctive programming.”

promo talk

Jordi is not very impressed. “A promotional talk, of course.”

Will Johnny return as a presenter? “They don’t want to say much about that yet. They say: ‘Not much is known about the interpretation yet.’”

His return seems unlikely. Jordi expects Hélène and Leonie to lead the way. “I wouldn’t be surprised if the two started alternating.”
