SBS 6 top crying through the corridors: good news show is a horror flop

It is a horrible morning at Talpa’s head office. The seventeen directors of John de Mol walk through the corridors crying: SBS 6’s new good news show is a horror flop.

John de Mol had hoped that with the grandiose failure of Avastars he had had his share for the time being, but nothing could be further from the truth: his latest TV baby, GoedNieuws Today, is giving him outright ratings diarrhea. The program already started badly, but last night’s viewing figures are really terrible.

66,000 viewers

Actually, all those ratings flops have to remain secret these days, but Tina Nijkamp does not adhere to that. “Absolute viewer horror for GoedNieuws Today,” writes the ratings hooligan. “On day three only 66,000 viewers. And 2.7 percent market share in the commercial target group 25 to 54 years.”

How would Tina describe this? “Like a DRAMA with capital for SBS 6, the team and also for Roos Moggré’s husband, Donatollo Piras. It was his presentation debut yesterday. The program scores even less than Dit Vindt Nederland from 2020 with Natacha Harlequin.”

Three weeks

Oh yeah, that thing with Natacha Harlequin was that bad too. Doesn’t know anyone anymore. “That usually scored around 100,000 viewers. That program stopped after three weeks.”

The big question is: how many weeks will the good news show have? “The viewer is clear, as expected, he has no need for this program. And certainly not at that time with all the real news. Would stop right now and try another weekly variant on the Sunday after Shownieuws.”

Residential program

What should SBS 6 do now at six o’clock in the evening? “A WOON program at 6 p.m. Is the only thing that has ever scored at that time on SBS 6.”

What did the competition actually do? “The News on NPO 1 had 1 million viewers and the Six Hour News on RTL 4 had 737 thousand.”

Stubborn

Johan Derksen, the biggest star of SBS 6, had no confidence in this show from the start. “I’m stunned. I looked again today and it’s almost impossible, but it was even worse than yesterday,” he said in Today Inside.

Doesn’t he say anything about that to John de Mol? “He gets a little cocky. He ignores my advice and that is of course not the intention.”
