She has been a welcome guest in talk shows for years and therefore joins almost everywhere: Angela de Jong. At the beginning of the week she sat at the table with Hélène Hendriks in the summer VI substitute De Oranjezomer. The shooting location is right in the center of Breda and Angela decided to go there with her daughter.

Angela in golf cart

Angela walked to the studio. “They record it in Breda. You have to park in a parking garage, which is a five-minute walk away. It was a very nice walk through the city. I brought my eldest daughter, who is a big fan of Hélène, so she enjoyed sitting in the audience,” she says in the AD Media podcast.

And the way back? “By then it was already dark and the production thought it better that we went in the golf cart. So a golf cart goes back and forth between that parking garage and the tent where they are. I found that very funny. That also shows how pathetic my life is. haha. That I thought the golf cart was the highlight of the week.”

Protected

Colleague Dennis Jansen is a bit shocked by this announcement. Why does Angela have to ride a golf cart when it’s only a five minute walk? “Are you protected or something?”

Angela: “No, but that’s just a shuttle service. You have to go through an entertainment area and I understand that that might be difficult on some evenings.”

Hard on herself? “Not even that, but I mean: Raymond Mens was also in the golf cart and Rutger Castricum was too.”

Summer vacation

It is a black day for Angela’s fans, because today is her last column in the newspaper before the summer holidays. The AD tiger shark goes on a trip to Italy and her vacation lasts until August 14. A full month, or, as Eva Jinek calls it, a midweek.

Angela jumps into the breach for Sigrid Kaag in her last bit. “There are people – including those around me – who laconically shrug their shoulders about it. It will be okay, they say. (…) I have one viewing tip for you: Caroline van der Plas at EenVandaag. (…) She made it crystal clear what it means. Always being on your guard.”
