The reigning Ducati world champion wins the sprint race on the Romagna circuit. Superpole Race shortened by three laps, red flags displayed, bad crash for Petrucci and Lecuona, both taken to the medical center for checks
Alvaro Bautista does an encore on the Riviera track by winning the Superpole Race after yesterday’s triumph in race 1. The sprint race ends with the display of the red flags three laps from the end, shortly after the great overtaking that allows the champion Ducati’s reigning world to get behind Toprak Razgatlioglu, leader of the race up to that moment. The Superpole Race was definitively interrupted after a crash in turn 8 involving the Honda rider Iker Lecuona and Danilo Petrucci, both taken to the medical center for tests. Bautista wins ahead of Razgatlioglu and Michael Ruben Rinaldi. Box number four for Axel Bassani who precedes the Kawasaki duo Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes. Seventh Andrea Locatelli followed by Xavi Vierge and Garrett Gerloff. Difficult morning for the standard bearers of the Gytr Grt Yamaha team with Dominique Aegerter, only twenty-third, while the Australian Remy Gardner, who crashed due to a contact with Petrucci on the first lap in turn 2, was taken to the medical center for tests. The Italian was sanctioned with a Long Lap Penalty.
