Say Anything have released a new single, Psyche! With the song, the pop-punk band ends their four-year hiatus. Singer Max Bemis spoke about this time in a statement.
“Perhaps for the first time since our first record, the irony behind the concept comes full circle and becomes utterly real, because this neurotic, cheesy and uplifting, heartfelt music is what I needed to get through the roughest time of my life ‘ the singer explained. In 2019, the band announced that they wanted to “retire”. “Say Anything will probably be making music again and I’m not saying this was our last record but it could be. Who knows,” Bemis said at the time.
It is unclear whether an album will follow the new release in the near future. The band will open a small concert series in New York City on April 28 and will play additional US shows throughout the year, including this year’s When We Were Young festival in October in Las Vegas.
