A building of a sawmill on the Mandemaker in Stadskanaal was destroyed by a fire last night. The fire broke out around 3:30 am. Fire brigade from the wide area, including from Tweede Exloërmond, was called.
The building is considered a total loss, according to the fire department. Neighboring buildings were kept wet to prevent the fire from spreading. At around half past four the signal was given as a fire marshal. Extinguishing will take some time.
