Sauli Niinistö criticizes Fifa and chairman Infantino

Sauli Niinistö says in his statement to Helsingin Sanomat in the interviewthat two different realities can be seen in the World Cup competitions in Qatar.

– The world of futaajs and this other world, which involves Fifa’s structural weaknesses and great ambiguities. Two worlds that should never have had anything to do with each other, Niinistö criticized the choice of Qatar as the host of the competition.

The president does not appreciate the arrogant way in which the country located in the Persian Gulf, which operates on oil and gas resources, practices sportswear.

Niinistö suffers from a lack of sports culture and human rights violations.

– In the case of Qatar, rather unnatural solutions have been made, such as building stadiums in the desert. But above all, the way they have been made and the way the guest workers have been treated is atrocious.

Infantino confused

Niinistö was elected chairman of the Football Association in 2009 and held the position until 2012, when he won the presidential election.

During his era, the World Cup was awarded to Russia and Qatar.

Niinistö did not witness the current chairman Gianni Infantino selection as the face of Fifa in 2016, but in a severely fractious association, the operating methods have remained the same despite the change of leadership.

Before the start of the World Cup, Infantino gave a highly publicized speech in defense of his current country of residence, Qatar. In it, the Swiss said that he identifies with, among other things, migrant workers and gays.

Niinistö saw the speech and was almost shocked.
