FOOTBALL – One more round for the Saturday amateurs and then the regular season is over. Who still has a chance at the championship, which teams will try to promote via the post-competition and which Drenthe club will we see fighting relegation in the post-competition in the coming weeks? We are already taking stock and describe here what can still happen on the last day of play.
Third Division: ACV is ready
The only trump from Drenthe in the Third Division on Saturday will also be the only trump from Drenthe in this division next season. ACV will close a great season this weekend with a game against Harkemase Boys. The Asser club will finish the season in 6th, 7th or 8th place.
Hoofdklasse B: HZVV faded, Noordscheschut relegated
The two Drenthe clubs in the main division are finished. HZVV ends without any problems, after a somewhat colorless season, in the middle bracket and Noordscheschut has to show a lower podium next season. The club of departing trainer Marc van Meel, is relegated to the 1st class as the last player. Urk was crowned champion yesterday and is promoted to the Third Division.
2J: Will DZOH take the title?
In the 2nd class J DZOH is not yet a champion. The team of coach Roy Stroeve lost yesterday to the only remaining competitor, Gorecht, and will in principle have to win next week in the home game against SC Elim. Due to the much better goal difference (+9 compared to Gorecht), a victory already seems sufficient to be able to celebrate. If that succeeds, DZOH will be promoted to the 1st class for the second time in its existence.
FC Meppel, Gramsbergen and LTC compete for two post-competition places
When DZOH becomes champion, Gorecht goes to the post-competition. It is not yet known which two teams will be added. There are still three contenders for two post-competition places: LTC, Gramsbergen and FC Meppel.
De Weide can still avoid the post-competition against relegation. Then the Hoogeveners themselves have to win at LTC and even then it remains to be seen. Competitors The Knickerbockers and Oosterwolde have to forfeit points.
3B: Veenhuizen safe
In the 3rd class B there are no more worries for Veenhuizen. The only Drenthe club in this class had already played safe two weeks ago. Leovardia is the champion in this class.
3C: Zuidlaren is ‘done’
Due to a 3-1 victory over sub-topper Helpman, the only Drenthe club in the 3rd class C, FC Zuidlaren, is out of relegation worries. Because of the three-pointer, the club no longer has to take action in the playoffs. The Groninger Velocitas was already champion in this class.
3 D: Who will accompany ZZVV and Ommen in the post-competition
It promises to be an interesting denouement in the 3rd division D, where Nieuwleusen has been champion for a long time and has won all period titles with a victory next Saturday. The question then is: which teams will take over those period titles from Nieuwleusen. Two clubs are already known: ZZVV and Ommen. ZZVV takes over the first period title from Nieuwleusen and Ommen the second. It is still unclear who will take the third. Two clubs are eligible for this: Hoogeveen and FC Klazienaveen. Hoogeveen needs a win at ZZVV on Saturday. In that case Klazienaveen has no chance. If Hoogeveen loses points and Klazienaveen wins against CSVC, that club is certain of the post-competition.
Which club is directly relegated: SVN’60 or Fit Boys?
If CSVC and Hollandscheveld help each other in the make-up game in Coevorden on Tuesday, both teams will be safe and BSVV will be sentenced to play relegation football in the postseason. The difference with the safe 12th place is then four points, with one more round of play. SVN’69 and Fit Boys will then decide who will be relegated directly. Fit Boys has the worst papers, with 7 points from 25 matches. SVN’69 is on 8 points. SVN’69 has to visit Hollandscheveld on Saturday and Fit Boys plays at BSVV.
4C: ONR plays championship game against Niekerk
In the 4th class C, the decision will be made in the title fight next Saturday. Then the numbers 2 and 1 play against each other. In Roden ONR (which is second) receives leader Niekerk. With a win, the only representative from Drenthe in this class is champion. In the event of a draw or defeat, the title goes to Niekerk.
4D: Borger needs miracle for title
WVV had no problem with SCN yesterday and won 6-0. As a result, the club from Winschoten is almost certain of the title in the 4th division D. WVV is three points above Borger and also has a better goal difference (+11 compared to the Drenthe club). With a strong victory by Borger at HS’88 and a defeat by WVV against DKB, which is still fighting for a place in the post-competition, it might still be possible. But then Borger will have to work hard on the goal difference.
Borger is in any case certain of a period title and can still promote via the post-competition. SJS and DKB fight out which club can hope for promotion via the post-season.
Tiendeveen relegated, Nieuw Balinge and SC Angelslo in the rematch
Tiendeveen has been relegated to the fifth division due to the 5-1 defeat at Nieuw Balinge. Nieuw Balinge has to save his life through the playoffs and the same goes for SC Angelslo.
5 D: FC Assen in the post-competition, top favorite VAKO is ready
In the 5th division D, VVK took the title and FC Assen, a week before the end of the regular season, is certain of the post-competition. It is still unclear which team will take over the first period title from VVK. That battle is between Haren and Westerkwartier. The game is over for VAKO, which started the season as a towering favourite. The club that made the switch from Sunday football last season ends the season in fifth place.
5F: Will NWVV be the smiling third?
In the 5th division F, there are three more contenders for the championship next Saturday: Scheemda, NWVV and Seta. Scheemda is the current leader, followed by NWVV on one point and Seta on two points. Scheemda has to visit Seta and NWVV plays at low flyer Muntendam.
If Scheemda loses and NWVV wins, then the club from Nieuw Weerdinge is champion. If Scheemda and Seta are equal, NWVV will have to score a lot to take the title. In that case, a win with at least five goals difference is sufficient.
If Scheemda wins against Seta, NWVV is in any case assured of a place in the postseason for promotion. The other post-competition spot then goes to Seta, although Bargeres still has a small chance.
5G: MSC already champion, Alcides enters post-competition
MSC won the 5th class G champion yesterday and is therefore promoting to the 4th class. Nagele will enter the post-competition anyway and the same applies to that other Meppeler club: Alcides. It is still unclear who will be the third person to participate in the dessert. Three clubs are eligible for this: Steenwijk, Steenwijker Boys and VCG. Steenwijk currently has the best papers.
