Skilled in many sports Fairy tale Lipiäinen improved Finland’s record and finished fifth in the 100 km World Championships in Germany.
Lipiäinen covered 100 kilometers in 7.15.35. Finland’s record improved by almost 25 minutes. The women’s world championship was won by a Frenchman Floriane Hot at 7:04,03.
Lipiäinen, representing Joensuu’s Ultra-Sisu, lost fourth place to the United States To Courtney Olsen only six seconds apart. Lipiainen also broke Sweden Kajsa Bergin the Nordic record in the name.
The 26-year-old from Siilinjärvi has won several medals in youth championships in various sports. He has, for example, medals in pole vaulting and steeplechase.
The one representing Endurance from Lohja also ran a good time and place Nora Honkala. He finished 18th with a time close to the former Finnish record of 7:49:17.
