The Hollands Noorderkwartier Water Board (HHNK) today closed the Sassluis in Enkhuizen as a precaution, because drainage is not possible in Den Oever. The variable winds may also push up the water further from tomorrow. The water board expects that the locks will not be opened again until Friday.
Due to the inability to drain, the water in Enkhuizen rises to 0.20 meters above NAP. And because the variable winds from tomorrow may push up the sea water even more, the water board has closed the Sassluis as a precaution. “In this way we prevent high water in the inland port and thus the risk of flooding,” said a spokesperson.
